How fast can I learn Norwegian?
There is no simple answer to this question. How fast you learn depends on different factors. One of those is your knowledge of other languages. Since Norwegian is a Germanic language, it has similarities with German and Dutch. If your first language is English, you will probably find it easier than Italian or Russian. No matter what your background is, at Lynganor we will do our best to facilitate your learning process.
Will I learn Bokmål or Nynorsk?
As you may know, Norway has two official written languages, Bokmål and Nynorsk. At Lynganor you learn Bokmål. The reason is that this is by far the most commonly used language. If you have learned Bokmål, you should also be able to understand Nynorsk.

If you settle outside the Oslo region, you need to get used to the local way of speaking as well. It may be confusing at the beginning, but experience shows that this won’t be a significant problem. There is no need to learn how to speak the dialect of the area where you live, but you will still need to understand it. At Lynganor, you can learn how to deal with that.

When applying for work or education, you will often be asked for a certificate for an official language test.
You can do the Norwegian language test Norskprøve at three levels, A1-A2, A2-B1 and B1-B2.
Another test called Bergenstesten is the highest level test for Norwegian as a foreign language. It’s equivalent to a B2/C1 reference level according to the CEFR.
